Oslo Harbor City Plan, Norway

BJØRVIKA

Oslo is the current capital and largest city of Norway. It is located at the top of Oslo Harbor on the southeast coast, with a land area of 457 square kilometers. It is the seat of the Norwegian royal family and the central government. Based on the city's own geographical conditions, the Oslo government proposed the Oslo Harbor City Plan very early, mainly to establish a better connection and new relationship between the city and the harbor between land and water, and to provide a unique natural environment. Life and leisure can change the urban activities of the industrial land on the waterfront in the past, and transform it into harbor activities, transportation and other uses. Based on a sustainable and people-oriented urban structure, it can adapt to any challenges of future urban development.

Oslo as a harbor city

Oslo is a harbor city just like Keelung, but Oslo has benefited from the development of North Sea oil and made the country prosperous and strong. The overall harbor city design focuses on the three planning areas of Bjørvika, Aker Br ygge and Tjuvholmen. Relying on three different urban spatial structures, as a unique expression of the harbor city, the Oslo government has controlled performance for public interests, such as providing the form of urban streets, the form of squares on the waterfront, building types, real estate, etc.

Bjørvika Waterfront Masterplan Concept

In the overall planning concept of Bjørvika's waterfront area, the design of the building type is to carry out the overall port development through the government's investment promotion model. The open space is planned in the shape of Barcode, which makes the harbor façade visually attractive, and each building needs to face the façade of the harbor. Improve the landscape visual experience of residential, office, commercial and cultural projects, and require a minimum width between buildings. Green outdoor space at least 50% above water level.

Through the development of newly emerging commercial areas along the waterfront, combined with the introduction of cultural facilities, it will drive sustainable land development and promote the rapid development of ports
  1. Combining with the surrounding land for investment promotion and development, it is based on the development of sustainable projects centered on the CBD commercial area.

  2. Ensure the functions of the land through urban planning and maximize the value of the port public space.

  3. Use environmentally friendly and friendly traffic lines to promote urban diversity and the development of leisure, entertainment and cultural activities.

  4. Plan the National Opera House, urban gathering space, cruise ship boarding space, and accelerate the development of the port.

The project's goal is to enable urban and architectural diversity as well as spatial flexibility and achieve a pedestrian-friendly area in Oslo.

Bjørvika's master planning plan has successfully created a good environmental space because of clear design principles, even if the planning partition uses mixed partitions, it can still provide users with a complete living space. Not only looking into the city from the bay or walking under the building, you can feel the beauty and comfort of the open waterfront space brought by Bjørvika. This is the charm and touch that the Bjørvika district gives to the Oslo Bay.
